Der natürlichen Blätterform nachempfunden: Diese fragmentarische dreieckige Struktur kühlt sich durch Luftzirkulation immer wieder ab und speichert kaum Wärme. // Re-creating the natural shape of the leaf: This fractal triangle retains little heat and is cooled down by means of air circulation.

Ob Bodenbeläge, Fensterprofile oder modische Taschen: Für die Herstellung dieser und vieler anderer Produkte kommt immer häufiger hochwertiges PVC-Recyclat zum Einsatz. Das Einsatzspektrum des Ressourcen schonenden Materials wächst kontinuierlich, wie ein aktuelles Beispiel aus Japan zeigt. Vor dem National Museum of the Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan-Museum) in Tokyo installierten japanische Spezialisten ein 250 Quadratmeter großes Schattendach aus recyceltem PVC. Die dabei verwendeten dreieckigen Formstücke aus PVC-Recyclat lassen der Luft aufgrund ihrer fragmentarischen Struktur viel Raum zum Zirkulieren und bieten einen effektiven Schutz vor Sonneneinstrahlung. Das künstliche Blätterdach, das natürlichen Vorbildern nachempfunden wurde, sorgt in der heißen Jahreszeit für angenehme Abkühlung. Schließlich reduziert sich die Grundtemperatur unter dem Dach um 10 Grad Celsius. Und im Vergleich zur Lufttemperatur heizt sich die Oberfläche der Formstücke kaum auf.

Recycling as a Trendsetter

No matter whether it involves flooring, window profiles, or fashionable handbags: high-quality recycled PVC is frequently being used to manufacture these and many other products. The broad use of this recycled material which saves resources is continuously growing as is seen from the current example in Japan. In front of the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan Museum) in Tokyo, Japanese specialists have installed a 250-square-metre roof made of recycled PVC. These triangular shapes made of recycled PVC provide ample space for air currents to flow because of their fragmentary structure while effectively blocking the sun’s rays. The artificial roof, which re-creates the natural shape of the leaf, provides cool temperatures on hot days. Finally, the ground temperature under the roof was reduced by 10 degrees Celsius. The surface area of the triangular shapes do not increase much in relation to the air temperature.
