Gehhilfen, Badewannensitze, Ess- und Toilettenstühle: Für Kinder mit neuromotorischen Störungen sind diese Hilfsmittel unverzichtbar. Doch gerade Familien mit geringem Einkommen scheuen oft vor den hohen Ausgaben zurück. Deshalb wurde in Brasilien mit Unterstützung der katholischen Universität Dom Bosco in Campo Grande ein engagiertes Sozial-Projekt ins Leben gerufen. Dabei entwickelt die Therapeutin Grace Gasparine einfache, kostengünstige Sanitäts-Möbel, die den betroffenen Familien zur Verfügung gestellt werden. Sie entstehen größtenteils aus PVC-Produkten wie Rohren, Anschluss-Stücken oder Platten, die das Instituto do PVC in São Paulo für das Projekt spendete. Trotz ihrer Einfachheit sind die Möbel absolut praxistauglich und äußerst hilfreich, denn sie lassen sich einfach reinigen, problemlos handhaben und von ihrer Größe her verstellen. Durch weitere Maßnahmen wie Workshops und Vorträge soll das engagierte Projekt jetzt in ganz Brasilien Schule machen.

So Simple and Helpful

Walkers, bathing chairs, or toilette and dining chairs: this equipment is indispensable for children with neuromotor disorders. But low-income families in particular shy away from the high costs. This is why a social project was initiated in Brazil with the support of the Catholic University Dom Bosco in the city of Campo Grande. In the process, the therapist Grace Gasparine developed simple, affordable sanitary products which have been made available to the respective families. The equipment consists mostly of PVC products such as vinyl piping, connections, or sheets which the Instituto do PVC in São Paulo donated to the project. In spite of its simplicity, the furniture is practical and extremely helpful because it is easy to clean, handle, and adjust. Through further measures such as workshops and lectures, this socially responsible project will soon set a precedent throughout Brazil.
